Archive Articles: The Oxo Tower, 1996
Coexistence supplied the furniture for the Oxo Tower rooftop restaurant, when the whole building was renovated by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands in 1996.
Key pieces included the Bertoia Diamond Chairs by Knoll, and Wire Chairs by Vitra.
The restaurant has one of the most stunning views along the river Thames, looking out onto St Paul’s Cathedral, with a 33m wide terrace for al fresco dining.
Since the early 1900s, the Oxo Tower building has been a key landmark on London’s South Bank. Initially used as a power station and then a meat warehouse, Lifschutz Davidson remodelled it in the 1990s into independent shops, designer studios, housing and a 400-cover Harvey Nichols restaurant.
It remains a perfect example of community-led, mixed-use developments.
